Goodbye, David Daniels

The Enneagram community has lost a great leader. Goodbye, Dr. Daniels, and thank you.

In Loving Memory: David Daniels, MD

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of David Daniels, a brilliant teacher and co-founder of Enneagram Studies in the Narrative Tradition.  David was dedicated to the Enneagram.  He did not merely teach it, however – he reflected and embodied its principles of personal growth in both his own earthly life as well as in his interior, spiritual life.  He was a faithful friend to many, a guiding force in the Enneagram field, and a much needed voice for unity.  The Faculty, administration, and staff at The Enneagram Institute express our love and support to David’s wife, Judy, to his fellow teacher, Helen Palmer, and to Terry Saracino and all our friends  at the Narrative Tradition School.  His life, which touched so many, will continue to live on in each of us.  David, thank you for all your many accomplishments.  We are better for having known you.  Godspeed, my friend.

Enneagram Meeting: Counter-Types within the Instinctual Variants

DATE: July 20, 2016

LOCATION:  St. Philips Church, West Gallery, NE corner of Campbell and River

TIME: 6:30 – 8:30

COST: Free. Suggested donation $5

TOPIC:  According to pioneering Enneagram author Claudio Naranjo, for each of the nine Enneagram types, there are three instinctual variants, also called “subtypes.” And for each of nine groups of three subtypes (27 in all), there is one that is the “counter-type.” Each of these nine “counter-types,” appears to be “upside-down” and goes against the predominant energetic flow of the (passion-fueled) expression of the type. The “counter-phobic Six” is the most famous of these nine countertypes—but all nine types have one. Knowledge of the counter-types can help with identifying type correctly, clarifying differences among people of the same type, and deepening the self-awareness of individuals with a counter-type subtype. Through discussion and break-out sessions by EnneaType, we will explore the ways the counter-type “goes against” the usual or dominant expression of the type and represents an “upside down” or reversal of the typical way the passion manifests.

PRESENTER: Sandy Hogan, Professional Certified Coach, and International Enneagram Association accredited teacher, is a co-founder of the Enneagram Enthusiasts, a vibrant and growing study group. Study of the Enneagram reveals consistent thought patterns and behaviors among different types of people.  Different EnneaTypes prefer different kinds of activities, care about different kinds of things, and think different kinds of thoughts.  Certainly this impacts our health.  How is it impacting yours?

In this dynamic presentation, we will learn the basics of health diagnosis using traditional Chinese diagnostic methods (acupuncture).  We will learn as a group by inviting volunteers to have their overall health picture assessed. By combining cues from the appearance of their tongue, the sensation of their pulse, the description of their symptoms, and exploration of their EnneaType, guests will gain deeper insight into themselves and the true state of their health.

About the presenter: Candice Thomas, L.Ac. is an integrative acupuncturist who uses the Enneagram in her practice.  She believes it is the best way to access the spirit in mind-body-spirit medicine.  She employs a storytelling style of case studies and group interaction to offer illumination about how these ego structures play out in real life.
